Our Process

Thank you for your interest in having Arnold's Custom Cabinets, manufacture and install your custom cabinetry. Listed below is a brief explanation of the process for the planning, designing, and constructing of your project.
1.) Initial Consultation - First, we invite you to our showroom, we will meet with you, at no charge, to determine the size and scope of your project, your budget in our showroom. Bring everything with you, including plans, samples, and pictures, magazine photos. This is a no-obligation consultation to determine if Arnold's Custom Cabinets is the right fit for you.

2.) Estimate - After the initial consultation, Arnold's Custom Cabinets will provide you with an estimate of the cost of your project.

3.) Design - After the initial meeting and review of the estimate, if you desire Arnold's Custom Cabinets to be more formal with sketch drawings, a drafting fee will be required.  We will expend considerable time and effort on these drawings, even before there is a signed proposal and acceptance. The amount of the drafting fee will be discussed with you but will be commensurate with the size and scope of your project. If Arnold's Custom Cabinets is hired to complete your project, and a proposal and acceptance are signed, then the entire drafting fee will be deducted from the final cost of your project. The drawings shall remain in the possession of Arnold's Custom Cabinets until the drafting fee has been paid.

4.) Retainer, Proposal, and Acceptance - Our jobs are usually started on a first-come, first-serve basis. Typically, Arnold's Custom Cabinets has a longer lead-time for our services due to demand and the time-consuming process of designing and constructing custom cabinetry and woodwork. In order to secure a starting date for your project, you will be required to pay a percentage deposit fee at the time of signing your proposal and acceptance agreement. The deposit will vary depending upon the size and scope of the project. The design fee will be fully applied to and deducted from the cost of your project. The proposal and acceptance agreement will be fully reviewed with you and will detail, in writing, the scope, cost, and payment schedule of your project and will become a binding contract upon signing.

5.) Start of Project - After the proposal is signed, if necessary, to conform to actual on-site measurements and to account for any appliances selected by you for your kitchen (for kitchen projects). Wood materials and hardware will then be ordered, followed by the cutting, fabrication, sanding, and completion of construction of your cabinets. You will be billed for the costs involved as certain stages of the project are completed, as set forth in your contract.

.

INITIAL MEETING •The first meeting is by appointment at our showroom and generally takes an hour. Together we will review rough drawings, blueprints, and magazine photographs collected. If the client doesn’t have drawings, feel free to take rough measurements so we can prepare a rough quote. We will examine wood species, door styles, molding,  and specifications.

PRELIMINARY PROPOSAL REVIEW MEETING •During the meeting, we will meet at the showroom to review the Preliminary Pricing Proposal which is a “ballpark estimate” based on the information gathered during the initial meeting. If you are satisfied with the estimate, we move to the Design Phase. There are no charges for the initial two meetings. *(or via e-mail)

DESIGN PHASE •To begin the design phase, Arnold's Custom Cabinets requires a signed Design and Sales Agreement and a drafting fee based on the estimated pricing disclosed in the Preliminary Pricing Proposal. The Drafting & Design fee is applied to the cost of your cabinetry. SITE VISIT & INCEPTION OF DRAWINGS •The builder will come to your home, measure the existing space, discuss appliance selection and define detailed design requirements.
